Good Old Times
He still could not believe it. He just could not believe it. He was unable to. It was just unbelievable, like something from an ancient fable. He still could not process it within his vast CPU and even his own mind doubted him. He still refused to believe what his audios and optics had told him and yet, it was happening. By the Thirteen it was happening and he just could not believe it. His crew could not believe it. His enemies probably would not believe it but still the evidence stood before him, looking at him with naive and pondering blue optics.
Not too long ago he stood up to the might of the chaos bringer Unicron and even assisted in his death. That was surprisingly believable, that was something that his army would believe but this...it just did not seem real. It was unreal given form.
Standing within the bridge of the great Nemesis, Megatron continued to just observe his new "ally" with a calm and composed form. Not caring what his crew thought of him during this...strange time and even found it amusing a little. His crew would only dare to gaze up every once in a while, still unable to believe what was happening upon their very ship. Soundwave stood close by and on guard. Even though he had no face to expression concern he was clearly tense about their new ally. Knockout and Breakdown just looked on, not even sure what to do. Arachnid was nowhere to be seen and to be honest Megatron could care less for what she was up to. Possibly sulking after the beating Soundwave gave her.
What mattered to him was the one who stood before him, looking at him as if they were friends.
Optimus Prime...no...Orion Pax.
The leader of the Autobots stood there on his bridge, standing and looking at the leader of the Decepticons with no fear in his optics. He wasn't bound. He wasn't in chains. He wasn't here against his will. The Autobot he had been fighting for eons, bent on his destruction and his wish to see this mech lying in a pool of his own mech blood was right here. His enemy, his eternal foe, his opposite was standing there and yet he posed no threat. To everyone they were natural enemies but to see them standing here in one spot, not even throwing banter at each other...it was just wrong.
He just looked to the Decepticon Tyrant with friendly optics.
'Megatronus?' he asked in a good natured yet confused tone.
'Would you please explain what is happening right now?'
Primus he just wanted to laugh, this was so ironic and amusing. Even some of his crew found it strange that Optimus Prime was not only asking Megatron a question in a friendly way but the fact he addressed him by his old name.
'All in good time Orion. I just have to make certain we are safe before we can talk. We don't want the enemy to attack us whilst we're off guard.'
The Autobot sighed but acknowledged. Megatron smirked as he approached both Breakdown and Knockout, the two 'cons watching on with wide open optics, still amazed at what they saw before him.
'Either I'm high on polish fumes or Unicron has destroyed us and I'm in the pit,' exclaimed Knockout.
'My Lord is this for real?' asked Breakdown, in a hushed tone.
A razor sharp grin appeared on the Tyrant's face.
'It is Breakdown,' growled Megatron quietly, glancing over to make sure that Orion couldn't hear them.
'He now thinks he's Orion Pax, my ally and friend from the days of old.'
'How...exactly did this happen, my Lord?'
To be honest Megatron wasn't 100% sure what had happened to the Prime. His memories...they had just vanished...gone. During their battle with Unicron, Optimus Prime unleashed the power of the Matrix upon the Chaos Bringer. He was determined to destroy the Spark of Unicron so that the Earth and its people would be safe that he did not care for his own safety. When he came to, he found a golden opportunity to destroy his foe but before he could deliver the fatal blow the weaken Prime suddenly asked him,
'Where are we Megatronus?'
To hear that name uttered by the Prime made the mighty Tyrant freeze in his tracks. It was a name he had not heard in a long time. A name that Optimus had once called him when he went by the identity of Orion Pax. When they fought together and not against one another.
It quickly dawned on him that Optimus had somehow lost his memory after the attack. His memories of the Great War between him had vanished from his mind and Megatron was the only mech he recognized. Therefore he was the only one he could trust. It was later confirmed when he did not even recognize his new name nor recognize his allies when they came for him. Instead he chose to believe Megatron and followed him into the ground bridge, not questioning him nor doubting him.
Now here he was, unaware that he was surrounded by his enemies and he himself believed that he was among allies.
He had so many things planned for him but for now he was going to enjoy having Orion back.
'Knockout, I will send him to you for a check up later on. I want you to make sure there is NOTHING left in his mind! Nothing from our previous battles, nothing about his Autobot allies. I want to make sure that he has truly forgotten everything! For now I will...get re-acquainted with my dear old friend.'
Knockout bowed and smiled in charming devious way.
'I look forward to it, my Lord.'
Megatron smirked and walked back towards Orion, the 'bot seemed pleased that Megatron was now paying attention to him. He ushered the mech to follow him but not before giving Soundwave some commands.
'Soundwave, watch the bridge whilst I fill Orion in on our situation. If anyone steps out of line...you know what to do.'
The silent 'con nodded and bowed respectfully. Orion watched with fixated optics.
The two mechs left the bridge at long last and Megatron could tell that the moment they left, the awkward tension in the bridge was now gone and he could already detect faint chatter. Orion looked back before looking back to the only mech he knew.
'Megatronus, will you now please tell me what has happened?'
Megatron smirked as he replied, taking pleasure in keeping the truth from the Prime.
'Forgive me Orion, my old friend but I had to make sure that our enemies would not catch up with us. I could not risk them attacking us, not after we got you back at long last.'
Orion frowned as he walked behind the taller silver mech.
'What...exactly happened to me all this time? In fact where are we? What part of the Universe is this?'
'All in good time, Orion. All in good time.'
They walked on in silence yet Megatron could sense the confusion and shock that Orion was going through. Obviously this wasn't going to be easy for him. In fact he found that he actually pitied him a little. To him, the mech once known as Orion Pax had just woken up from a long slumber and found that there was a huge gap missing within his memory core. He wanted answers and answers he shall have but only the answers Megatron would deem suitable for him know.
They arrived in the throne room of the Nemesis where Megatron leisurely took his place on the dark throne of power and continued to look over the lost mech before him. Orion looked around, trying to see if he could recall any of this. Seeing Megatronus sitting on a throne seemed to have surprised him a little.
'What can you remember, old friend?' asked Megatron, showing a rare hint of concern.
Orion frowned as he tried to delve deep into his memories. The ones he had left that is.
'I...we were discussing about the current state of Cybertron and our wish to see it changed for the better. It was just before you left to battle against a gladiator from Kaon in the arena for the tenth time for he refused to yield to you. After that there is...nothing.'
Ah, he remembered that day. He remembered it very well in fact.
Orion Pax had caught him just before a fight and was talking all about how he wanted everyone on Cybertron to be treated like equals and his joy that he found someone else who shared in his ideals. He was hoping that the Council would hear them out and accept their terms to make Cybertron the place where everyone was treated with the same respect and care. Megatron also was pleased that he had met someone else, who didn't follow him blindly but understood what he was fighting for.
All of his followers just craved his power, his strength and a great majority of them were just mechs and femmes who were tired of being pushed around by the higher classes. None of them, with the exception of Soundwave, knew what he truly wanted. None of them could understand his dreams and his hopes...until Orion Pax came along.
The first mech he had ever met, who lived a somewhat decent life compared to the ones who followed him and yet he too had the same desire to see Cybertron changed.
That was the last memory that Optimus had...everything else after that was just a blank slate.
Which meant that the Autobots meant nothing to him and the Decepticons meant nothing as well. They were just words to him and he didn't know what either one meant. He would never understand what had happened between them during the Great War. He didn't remember the pain nor the grief he had gone through. The battles he had fought, his victories and failures...nothing was left. Just the memories of the old days.
Well Megatron was going to have a lot of fun telling him "his" version of the two fractions.
Looking at Orion now, some nostalgia feelings came back to him.
Back then, fighting and battling in the great arena Megatronus had lead a brutal and vicious life. It was all that he knew. It was what he was built for, what he was destined for. To fight and destroy those who dared challenge him. He had gained the love of the people who adored his violent nature and their respect for his goal to unite Cybertron into a fair system of justice and equality. He loved it, he loved all of it. He loved the feeling of a powerful blade slash across his armour, the way he would tear limbs apart just to get a roar from the crowd and the way he would watch as his victims begged for his mercy.
And yet something was missing.
It all changed when Orion Pax appeared before him. A young Clerk who had heard his words from another part of Cybertron and was inspired by them so much that he travelled to meet with him and share his ideals with him.
At first he thought that he was nothing but some poor fool who only wanted the great Megatronus to notice him. However after a quick discussion the great gladiator found that there was more to him than meets the eye.
Not only did he have a way with words and carried so much knowledge from the past but he was also charming to look at. Yes he was quite young and it was surprising that someone like him would suddenly want change Cybertron into a better place. He brought him a sense of peace. He made him feel like that he wasn't just a Gladiator but a mech that could take on the whole universe. His kind yet firm tone, his graceful yet sturdy frame and the strange aura that surrounded him. Yes. He was a mech that interested him so.
Until he betrayed him.
The Decepticon looked up to see Orion standing over him with some concern.
'Is something wrong? You looked lost in your thoughts.'
Megatron blinked before grinning almost viciously at the mech standing over him. Orion Pax had betrayed him in the past, preaching to the ones they vowed to fight against and earned their love and respect. It had hurt him so that he broke all ties with him and refused to acknowledge as a friend ever again. Now here he was at his mercy. He vowed that he would make Orion pay for what he had done but saw that maybe he could...make amends, correct his foolish mistakes and join the side that will conquer all.
'Nothing is wrong old friend. Now why don't you take a seat...we have a lot of catching up to do.
The Autobot complied and took a seat, ready to listen and accept what his good friend was going to tell him.
