If there is one thing I hate in anime it’s the “Best friend who is 😍 with protagonist and ruins everything for their own selfish needs” trope.
I fucking HATE this trope with a passion and what Ichigo did in Darling in the Franxx ep 14 pretty much sums up why I hate characters like her.
I tried looking at it from her point of view but when it all comes down to it, she was acting for her own selfish purpose. She wants Hiro all to herself, keeps him from saying good bye to Zero Two by forcing herself on him and did all this despite knowing that Goro confessed his feelings to her.
On top of that she is the team leader of a team whose job is to pilot the Fanxx to keep humanity safe. In order to pilot a Franxx the two pilots (or parasites) have to be in perfect sync (like a Jaegar from Pacific Rim) Hiro could only pilot a Franxx with Zero Two, he couldn’t even move a Franxx when he was with Ichigo. So not only did she reduce the number of operable Franxx but she has endangered humanity and her teammates for wanting Hiro for herself.
You can argue, she was concerned Zero Two was going to kill Hiro, but even then she should’ve respected his wishes to 👀 her off. Yes Zero Two was also acting irrationally but you can’t blame her when she was raised by adults who twisted her mind and tortured her.
Anyway to sum it up, I am really disgusted and 😠 at Ichigo and her redemption arc better make up for what she did
